Graduate School Admission Results

Received a call late Friday informing me that the committee had met and commended my file. I stress an informal show of consideration: electronic notification not till early this week.

Private correspondence from a professor. Note well: some admits are now out, but decisions are still being made.

Rejected, waitlisted two weeks ago, then rejected again today. WTF Harvard?

Accepted from reject list. full tuition plus $98,000 stipend for five years.

"Over the next week, many applications will be getting a second look."

Notified after being rejected that the committee reconvened and I was admitted. Harvard only yielded 20% of their initial admits.

And the interminable cycle continues! Waitlisted after being previously rejected; "50/50" chance of admission.

Full funding plus $49,000 stipend. I was removed from reject list.

Informal wait-list email from professor in my sub-field. I was neither rejected, accepted, or wait-listed previously. Tentatively optimistic...

They just got permission from the dean to make an additional number of offers.

Department of Government has gone back into its rejected pool to admit some "near-miss" students so it meets appropriate cohort size. I sense that there are more forthcoming so be prepared for a Lazarus-like comeback.

They were "unable to take favorable action" on my application. Who writes these things?
