Rejected via generic email. Nothing but rejections. It's so tough this cycle

Well, at least I'm starting to hear back from programs. Email from DGS said they had almost 350 applicants this year and had to focus on applicants with strong research matches (which I was not). Congrats to everyone who got in! 1a/0w/0i/5r/5p

I got a generic rejection letter, but a few minutes later I got a very nice email from the DGS explaining that they liked my application but lost the dedicated faculty member in my subfield. huge L 0a/1i/4r/3p
