This is for an MS in CS (for S&E). BA in Statistics from a Top 5 US public school, with all A's in CS courses like ds&a, OS, DB, AI, etc. No published research but a strong undergrad honors thesis in statistical machine learning, and a few decent projects in deep learning and computer vision. About 2 years of experience in startups and Big 4 consulting. Program-tailored SoP, though written in one night so not perfect. 1 LoR from a manager. The program targets engineering or science majors, but seems open to others with relevant experience or coursework in computing.

Got an email that there was a status update in my application portal on 3/26/24

Emailed to check portal. No interview. No GRE. Three research experience. No publication.

Ignore status. Wasn't there any notification about virtual visit day or in-person visit day scheduled on the first week of April?

Did not submit the GRE. Undergrad + Master degree in Applied Maths from top French engineering school. Applied ML internship in a company, Research Internship in an European university. Decent LORs. No publication. Hesitate between this and Columbia MS Data Science.

Email to check the portal. Really sad to hear this. I had an informal interview with POI. POI told me I would likely get the acceptance. end of my cycle. A 1/ R 8/ W 0 got one accepted, but will likely apply this year.

Ignore the waitlist. Has anyone received any updates from UCLA? I know people who got a status update (no email) that was a rejection, but my portal still looks the same as before, without any updates. Anyone else experiencing this?

Got phone call from PI said official offer is coming out in the next one or two days.

Letter in Portal - I didn't get an email; the system messed up, apparently. My status said "submitted," but when I emailed the department, they felt bad and said I was accepted a while ago.
