Our faculty has carefully reviewed your application, and I regret very much to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to graduate study in the Department of Anthropology (PhD program). Admissions decisions at the University of Chicago are made within a highly competitive context in which the number of applicants greatly exceeds the limited number of places available in our programs. In your application, you indicated that you would like to be considered for one of our MA programs in the event your PhD application was unsuccessful. Your application will now be referred for consideration by the Master of Arts Program in the Social Science (MAPSS). We will contact you in mid-March with the outcome of your MA application. Your application will also be reviewed for scholarship assistance, and if you are admitted, your admission letter will include information about any scholarships you have been awarded.

4 papers published. Current research funded by a 70,000 eur grant. First decision to come out. Trying to not stress over what went wrong. I want to think it wasn't the best fit, but oh well. Anyway, congrats to everyone that got in

Applied for pure math (topology). I had a pretty good fit with the professors imo and a published paper. First one I heard back from so try not to spiral challenge begins now

Despite best work not calling for interview is shame of elite schools!
