3.78 GPA, Average GRE, Strong SOP and LORs. I was really hoping for this one. Ah well...

Rejected from Direct Doctorate, accepted to Master via mail saying to check website. Top 10% from EPFL, good SoP, average LoR, poor research experience.

CS undergrad at a Chinese university. The rejection letter (PDF on portal) said the following: "Thank you very much for having applied to our University. We regret to inform you that your application to the Data Science MSc programme at ETH Zurich has not been successful. Attendance of this Master's degree programme presupposes basic and subject-specific knowledge and competences (discipline requirements profile). A very good performance in the preceding degree programme is also required. An examination of your dossier by the Admissions Committee of the degree programme indicates that your performance does not sufficiently fulfil the criteria set out in the discipline requirements profile." I think it could be because my background and finished courses don't sufficiently match the requirements of data science (my research experience is in computer systems). Best of luck to others.

Unexpected, but incredibly happy as it was my first choice! Computer Engineering student from an alright university in Southern Italy (401-500 on THE). 30/30 GPA, further corroborated by excellent GRE (170Q, 168V). 3 recommendation letters from my brofessors (maths, CS and EE). A few personal projects, one very large and spanning nearly two years before release (though it's more CS than EE). I thought I was out due to not having any research experience (despite really looking forward to getting some) but that was not the case :D Going into Computers and Networks spec.

MechE and CompSci (double degree) undergrad from meh Canadian university. One conference paper (second author, robotics-related), undergraduate thesis and capstone project related to graduate interest. Started an engineering team and ran it for a couple years, three internships, two pertaining to robotics. Teaching Assistant experience. Received some decent awards (Dean's Merit, NSERC USRA, etc.). Decent SoP and good letters of recommendation. At least top 10%, but our university doesn't keep track formally. One of my top choices, very excited to get in :)

Top 10% of my class, First Class CS degree from top 10 UK University, final-year project research dissertation in Machine Learning, internship in research organization, accredited online courses in Machine Learning and numerous ML projects. They want the absolute cream of the cream, anything else is beneath them... So sick of applications

German from top german university, did an exchange at ETH, internship at BMW, top 5-10% of my class 2 patents. Very excited!
