I want to share my disappointing experience with Columbia Engineering's graduate admissions process (Spring 2025). I applied for the CS PhD program in October 2024. In December, they suggested my profile better suited their MS program and said they would transfer my application to the MS program. I promptly completed the required video interview for MS consideration. Despite multiple attempts to contact the admission office for updates, I received no effective response. In mid-January 2025, I finally received a response stating that my PhD application had been rejected and that I would not be considered for any other programs this season. This lack of clear communication and inconsistent information has been frustrating. Future applicants should be cautious about similar program transfer promises and avoid declining other offers without written confirmation.
