Turned down a fully funded offer today. It was one of the best offers I received (end of February). Mixed emotions right now.

I am glad you got admitted to Syracuse. I declined the offer because I was also admitted off the waitlist at WashU. I hope people are able to decide early to help other people get offers as well.

TBP: Thanks for promptly declining. Did they say anything you can share about how many spots they have left or how they're making offers? I'm still on the WL, will probably accept an offer so I'm pretty anxious.

TBP:(I'm the previous poster) Yes I was there, although I didn't talk to any individual faculty members. The rejection notification was actually in the spam folder...🙄

TBP: I'm sorry to hear that. Did you go to the visit day? I got an email with the same language, but still no offer... will probably accept if they give it to me so I'm really hoping. Seems like their admissions are kind of messed up this year.

Previously waitlisted. I was unlikely to enroll even when accepted (have other offers with better research fit) but they could have at least notified me personally? It feels kind of bad to get my rejection letter through the portal although the professor contacted me personally beforehand(I was told that "it is likely that you will receive an offer of admission in the coming weeks").

Is anyone going to be declining their offer here soon?

[No WL] TPB: Yeah, can confirm. I spoke with the chair (very nice guy) and he said things are moving slower, though he tries to prod them along. Apparently WUSTL likes to give two weeks' time to respond to offers, which means they need to do it next week (since market clearing is 4/15.) So he expects movement next week, as do other chairs.

TBP: Spoke to someone in the program after the visit day. He said that they've received an unexpectadly low volume of responses from their first round admits (he used the first round language), and things may move slower than anticipated. I think this is true for many schools this year, and it may take longer for the market to clear than normal. Many schools seem to have admitted fewer students and waitlisted more students, leaving students with fewer dominating offer situations, which would allow students to decline their less preffered offers.

Has anyone received an offer off of the waitlist yet?

I know these messages are dumb, but: If after the visit day last Friday you don't think you'll accept the offer from WUSTL please go ahead and decline! I think this program would be a really good fit for me and would love to be able to get and accept an offer.
