University of Toronto Anthropology Graduate School Admission Results

Second year on the waitlist. My potential supervisor had accepted me last year but informed me that the department had only allowed her to select one student and she had to go with her current MSc student that sought to continue with her for their PhD. This year, my she advised me that there might not be an opening for her to accept another student but that she remained supportive of my application. Staying hopeful!

(arch sub) Wait listed... can't say I'm surprised. I had some great talks with a prof in the department, however, they did inform me that the entire anthro dept only accepts ~4 intl students a year. Congrats to everyone who got in!!

If you are not planning on attending, let them know! It's one of my top choices and I'd be absolutely thrilled to get in off the wait list.

Canadian applicant, 3.7 gpa in final year. Got an email to check portal.

Accepted off the waiting list! Very excited.

I called in, as my status on SGS had changed. The administrative staff on the phone were very helpful (make sure you call the graduate office). I did not receive an e-mail from my supervisor, like many others had, so don't panic if you haven't heard - it doesn't mean that you have actually been rejected! Wait until you have received your official letter via postage service.

Called into the Anthro Department and the lady said all successful candidates have already been notified by their supervisors. So all those waiting around and have not heard from anyone via e-mail, we have been rejected. Wish they would just give this information earlier. People have been getting accepted since the beginning of the month. What else to do with life now.....

Funding is $23.5k for the first year, need to reapply for funding for second year.

$15k + tuition. Standard full-funding. Saw status change on SGS and called the department this morning. I thought I was going to be rejected, but instead I was admitted to work with my supervisor of choice! What a great surprise!!! Will likely accept.

Unofficial acceptance from POI, official letter should be coming in the mail. I'll probably be rejecting this, since it came so late and I've already decided on a school. Hope that helps anyone waitlisted.

Has anyone heard back/ know when we will be notified? Have to decide between schools and getting down to the wire.

Notified by my supervisor! Hope I'll get funding, but haven't heard about it yet. :)

Got rejected by post. Standard letter, I figured this happened when people were emailed acceptance letters.

Letter from Director of Student Services cc'd to Dept. of Anthropology "I regret to advise you that we are unable to offer you admission... etc."

Too bad!
