To Mr/Mrs. 9.3/6 . I'm guessing you're from India since you rated your GPA out of a 10 point scale and had to write the IELTS. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Admissions committees in the US, especially in professional, non-thesis programs really do not care about how high your GPA is as long as your grades are good enough to inspire confidence that you can succeed in their program. It's great that you worked hard and achieved academic success, but being condescending to people who were admitted(because their applications were clearly better than yours) is very childish. I know that this condescension is especially a problem in India because people with 9 cgpas feel entitled to acceptances from the best colleges in the world. You probably fell short on your essay, research or extracurriculars or they probably felt that your overall profile wasn't a good fit for them. Take your bitterness and turn it into something productive. You literally got into NYU and CMU, I don't understand why you feel the need to be so damn negative.

Ignore WL. TTPB, same haha. I'd have easily picked this program over the others I got into but at this point I'm planning to head to CMU MISM-BIDA if they don't let me know in another few days. Funnily, I was waitlisted for Columbia DS last year and my application is much better this year, so it kinda sucks that I haven't even been put on a waitlist yet.Also, I've been waitlisted at NYU lol so it's pretty sucky to narrowly miss acceptances at both schools. It is my fault though. I attended a very good engineering undergrad program(top 3), but my grades are simply not up to par in the important courses(A mixture of B's and B+'s and a few A-'s). Now I kinda wish I'd attended a less prestigious undergrad program and gotten straight A's there- seems like people who did well in less prestigious undergrad schools are getting in pretty easily.

Ignore WL, I still haven't heard back from Columbia University. Is there anyone else who hasn't received admit results from Columbia?

9.3/6 here. Columbia is not my first reject lo I do have 2 acceptances one from CMU and one from NYU, point was some of the the profiles that got accepted where subpar than some candidates who applied, that is a fact and there is nothing that cannot change it. And besides something to note: knowing ones self worth is a virtue. I do not claim anyone's achievement is without hard work or credit but it simply is not unto others levels, based one what I have talked to with other applicants. I do not blame the ones who got admitted but I do feel that the admission procedure is not selective as it claims. Nevertheless, People who sermonized me I don't give a flying F, I have a life ahead that will be just as fruitful if not more. Ciao. lol cant even believe I'm responding to trolls.

Previously in their website, they said the majority of the decision will be out at the end of April. In April 29th, they removed that statement from the website. Anyone knows when is USC planning to release the decision because I am now mentally exhausted

I'm utterly devastated. Graduated Summa Cum Laude at a top 50 state school with a math degree and got a perfect GRE score. This was my dream school and it didn't happen. I thought I'd be an admit for sure, I thought I was a strong applicant compared to the applicant pool. I have no clue what system Columbia used for admissions this time around. Really hope it didn't come down to a lottery system Congrats to all the admits

(Ignore wait list) TTPB who said they're "not bitter" and has a 9+ GPA. Your personality is trash and you need to learn how to take rejections like an adult. Just because you didn't get in doesn't mean others who did are not worthy. Get off your high pony, like for real. It would really suck to work in a team setting with your personality and mentality so those who got in should breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Ignore Waitlist: I still haven't hear back from columbia but TTPB sorry you had to deal with such a scumbag. I'm glad Columbia managed to filter such human garbage out. You deserve getting in and should feel proud. I never met you but Im so proud of you! Ignore the haters🤓

Well... It is what it is. 2 AAAI, 1 ICLR and 1 Springer Nature paper. 1 in review at TPAMI and 1 in review at ICCV. Strong LoRs from Google Brain and Institute Chair Prof at IIT-Bombay. 1 year full-time research exp at IISc, 1 AI startup internship, 2 research internships at top-tier labs, 2xGSoC in AI/ML. Strong research fit with profs and several National Awards. I guess I must have worked harder. The 2021 cohort is more competitive than I expected. Congratulations to those who made it!

Generic Rejection. Its raining rejects....All the best for those who got in and to others who didn't get through- just think that there is a bigger oppurtunity awaiting you in the future.

Let me be very clear, entire process was disappointing and painful. The Uni made us wait for more than 4 months, to give rejections. The admits given are such shit profiles that their linkdin posts of their "journey and struggle to reach Columbia" are cringeworthy. And I'am pretty sure most admits are wondering how on earth did I get an admit lol. Anyways learned my lesson that merit is not the commodity valued for admissions. At least in Columbia lol. Oh also this is not the post of a bitter reject, but a reject who realized that merit and academic accolades do not matter. CGPA-9.3/6 months research experience in Computation, 3 publications, 1 conference, IELTS 8.0, GRE-322, 1 year work experience. Diploma in DS.

Rough day. Congrats to everyone who got in, and hope everyone who got cut is doing alright. A rejection isn't a reflection of your self-worth (something I know I struggle with sometimes), and it's clear that the University had a buttload of overqualified candidates. All the best to everyone.
