Sociology Graduate School Admission Results

I think it is a positive notice at least for the sociology applicants. There is a threat related to this in sociology forum where we talked about what may this e-mail mean. You can check the sociology forum's 2018-2019 thread. The discussion is on the last page or last two pages. If you ask my inference, I think it is a positive notice (or I am just optimistic). I assume a waitlist or an acceptance because there are people who did not get an e-mail from UMass yet for poli sci and sociology alike.

Accepted via email, received a call from director of graduate studies later on. Invited to visit on March

Waitlisted for funding. Director wrote to me after that to inform me I am high on the list and my funding is expected to fall through in the next two weeks.

No email or status change. I assume it is a rejection. And I am a Chinese applicant as well.

Nothing like waking up to a rejection from your dream school right before getting your wisdom teeth out. Bring me all the PaAAaiiiNnN.

Got the same email as other people, but the portal won't even load for me. At first I assumed it was a rejection because I've seen a lot of schools email people to check the portal, but a lot of people on the soc forum seem to think that it's a positive response. Fingers crossed! Kind of wish they would have just emailed us the results, not emailed us to check a portal that isn't working and make us wait 1-2 days for an official letter.

After telling me to check the portal, I saw the decision letter which said I was rejected. Pretty bummed because I loved this school and it was one of the schools I thought I had a shot at.

This was my safety school. Sad.

Notified via-email that my application status had changed. Decision letter uploaded to portal the next day.

Bummed, but expected. This was one of my reach schools.

I am one of the people who already commented about this UPDATED TO PENDING situation. Now i checked again and see the decision letter which is a rejection.
