To the Columbia PhD posters below, please could you add what areas you applied in?

Field: NLP, BA + MS from top 15 school, 1 accepted publication, 1 in-review, 2 years of research experience in NLP. 7th rejection, not looking good for me. May have to work for half a year and reapply. Good luck to all those who applied!

I'm the poster below. I got interviewed at the end of January on campus (I'm still a student at the University of Toronto). My potential supervisor said I was near the top of his list and expected that I will get admitted in the first or second round. My offer deadline is only two weeks, so I think if I were to reject the offer, the other candidates on the lower rankings of the list will get reviewed and admitted.

So I see a lot of rejections. Mine still just says waiting on decision. Anyone else in the same boat?

They sent me an e-mail, and then they recommended to apply to Telecommunication major which is related to electrical engineering.

Got an email saying I was accepted. This is where I went to undergrad (also for CS). Glad to be going back!

To people who got an acceptance mail from UIUC, did the mail say that the program has recommended to the Graduate College and once it is approved you'll receive the official offer? If yes, then how much time does it take for Graduate College to approve it? So the offer I have now is not confirmed, right?

To the poster below, it seems for USC other aspects of the profile do not matter at all. They are giving admits solely on the basis of CGPA. Till now 99% admits r above 9 CGPA only.... Ridiculous!!!..

Academically eligible. To receive your official offer of admission, you must first demonstrate proof of the ability to pay tuition and living expenses for yourself (...)

Are you specifically talking about UIUC? Because for UIUC, there are two rounds of review as per their site. (Check out the link below). I am in doubt since I have received a link in the results mail to accept or decline the offer even thought my application has only been approved by program admissions committee and not by 'Graduate College' committee. The current status is that my profile is recommended to "Graduate College" committee. https://grad.illinois.edu/admissions/instructions/05a

Any idea when MS CS (on campus) decisions will be rolled out?
