Unofficial acceptance. Had minimal contact with PI who replied with brief email encouraging me to apply. Big state school- excellent physics program. 2 semesters unrelated research (env. Engineering), 1 summer + 2 semesters geophysics research. 1 summer hep ex research. Current interdisciplinary senior thesis in nuclear astro/planetary science. 1 pub in prep. Physics TA for 2 semesters. Dept. and school scholarships. Applied for nuclear astro/neutrinos.

Interview request for next week

Gravity theory, hep-th Emailed by POI for interview Said usually a master is required for PhD at Cambridge but they were sufficiently interested in my app so they want to interview and see if exception can be made

Got an email from POI in the morning to interview in the evening

Status on the portal changed. Got an option to accept/reject my admission offer.

Completely did not expect to land an interview… Really nervous about it, especially with the interview format the email described. The email was personalized and the interviews are in the middle of February. Did not submit GRE, no papers yet but one on the way, and did research at UC in medical physics.

I wrote to my potential supervisor who replied back with the rejection.
