Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that you have been selected for admission to the Graduate Program in Physics at the University of Rhode Island. The Graduate School will be sending you a formal acceptance shortly. Decisions on funding are expected in early March.

I was interviewed and then shortlisted for a project (6 people, 1 spot) but someone else got the offer.

I see acceptances for hep-th, cm and amo. Anyone applied for theoretical astro and heard anything from the Physics Department? Previous years trends seem to show acceptances anywhere from Feb 9th-14th with informal acceptances followed by official letters. Any reliable info on this from astro applicants/admits?

Hep-th (String theory/quantum gravity)

Checked in with a POI I mentioned in my SOP. They said that most of the accepted candidates had been notified already, and that they had >1000 applicants for 25 positions, so I'm assuming I've been rejected. Really rough year for international applicants. :/

AMO experiment. Unofficial acceptance through phone call and email. Official email and stipend info will be sent out in about 1 week. Also, the email was addressed to the wrong name... the voicemail was correct though so I think I'm ok. Not a great first look, but oops! Guess they can't be too mad at students who made similar mistakes in their SOPs.

Ignore Waitlist. A PI at Harvard told me that all acceptances were already sent out via email. If you did not receive an email then you were not accepted. The rejection letters will come out in about 10 days.
