Graduate School Admission Results

Had heard nothing from Columbia yet, despite seeing acceptances/rejections on here; emailed admissions; they said more decisions coming in mid-March.

Email to go to website. I already knew the result since mid/late February from the website. Sending me an email was pointless, but hey, the letter was actually up on the website this time around!!!

Had a phone interview today and was accepted following the interview!

Given your credentials, we would expect you to enroll in the first-year PhD courses, and take the prelims in the summer (in 2015), and if you pass both prelims with at least a B average in the first-year micro, macro, and econometrics courses, you could then transfer to the PhD program. We would not offer funding in the first year (and the university does not allow us to grant tuition waivers), but if you do succeed in transferring to the PhD program, you would have guaranteed funding for years 2-4. PERSONALLY, I DON'T BELIEVE THE MASTER CAN BE TRANSFERD TO PHD.

For those of you saying funding is decided next week, how do you know?? My email said it can take until the beginning of April - hopefully that doesn't indicate less chance for me.

Used the status check, got an email saying 'decision letter/email' has already been sent. Your application has been denied. Alright.

I interviewed on skype Feb 17th and the letter was posted Feb 28th

Just received the e-mail. Applied for MSc. Mechanical Engineering.

I think the reason I was rejected was cos my POI has apparently decided to retire and not take on any more students. Such a bummer.
