Offered PhD admission and was told to reach out professors with funding. After sending several emails, no positive response, I won’t be taking it.

Brief cv: Salutatorian of a well-regarded european university, 1 publication in a Q1 journal as first author, 2 research projects underway including a thesis on which I collaborate with a lab of a top-5 US university and expect to publish in a very high impact journal as first author. I had an interview with 3 professors who all seemed very interested in my research and my plans, including one I had mentioned in my SoP and who seemed especially excited (I am a very good fit for his lab). We had a great conversation and they warmly answered all my questions about BU and life in Boston etc, which I found to be a promising sign that I would get in. Unfortunately, there is simply not enough funding and I was waitlisted. Hoping to get good news!
