Political Science Graduate School Admission Results

All's well, I'm going to Columbia.

I sent an email asking about the status of my application. 15r, 0p :(

It shows "Denied" on the portal- no email yet, but feels a bit funny there's not been communication from the program?

I would say that you should hear back between now and June. German universities are not known for being particularly fast in their decision-making process and it also comes down to how competitive you are as a candidate. More competitive candidates seem to get their admits sooner and the middling candidates a bit later. But, chin up, because Mannheim is solidly good school it competes for PhD students that also apply to places like Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, the Ivies, etc. and it just doesn't have the name recognition. Also, compared to other European schools (like Gothenburg, Leiden, Aarhus, etc.) they pay their PhD candidates surprisingly little (only €1,250 per month I think). So, it's possible if not probable that if you don't hear back soon you may still get in because Mannheim just doesn't have the same name recognition/resources to always attract the wunderkinder.

[NOT WL] Has anyone else heard back besides the one that submitted their results? I'm a bit confused because I've received neither an offer nor a rejection. Does anyone know if there's a waitlist?

Canadian w/ a Canadian honours BA. Notified via email to check portal

Econ undergrad from a top Asian university with low scores on Econ core, but overall score is ok. Have some experience in course-related research and also work hard on my research proposal. Also applied for the same course of Oxbridge, got rejected by Cam on 02/22 and accepted by Ox on 03/31. Best luck to all!

Political economy track. It seems impossible to get the ranking for waiting list. Who else are also on WL for this track?
