Email from the department, no interview. Theory.

Got a rejection after enquiring about my application status directly from POI.. Had one publication, did my undergrad and masters from a top rank college in India.. Took reco from best people in India (hep-th) .. It is really hard to figure out where one stands in this competition, and where it is practical to apply..

I emailed the office of admissions and they replied that I should expect results within 2 weeks. Still haven't been contacted for an interview so I don't have much hope.

I got an email asking me to check the portal. Logged into it and saw my rejection letter. Once was my dream school, but I got a better acceptance. Good luck

Got a call that for some reason went straight to voicemail without ringing. Oops! Was also followed by an email to check the portal for an update. 2 co-authored papers, graduated from mid-tier undergrad, 1 year of full time research during undergrad, and 3 years of full time research post grad.

Congratulations to all who got admissions! BUT many of us are waitlisted by some other schools! And please turn down your other offers ASAP, thank you so much!

I had a delightful conversation with the director of this PhD program this afternoon!

Like previous posts, I received an email with "As you have now heard from the Graduate School" despite no prior communication.

I'm reposting this because I accidentally didn't choose the "SUNY Albany" drop down. Received an email from the Director about acceptance -- then received the letter from Graduate Admissions via the online portal. Currently waitlisted for funding but told that it is still a possibility. I went to UAlbany for undergrad, and I'm married and own a home in the area so this is the only program I applied to. If you do not plan on attending, please let them know sooner rather than later. Thanks, congrats and good luck!!
