Graduate School Admission Results

Received email on 1/17 to schedule interview via Zoom. Had Zoom interview on 1/18. (Application deadline was 12/1/2021 just FYI). Expect to hear back within a week or two with an offer. Will update then.

(Ignore Waitlist) Apologies to post this here, but the program thread within Grad Cafe didn't answer, so I thought of maybe asking this here instead. Is anyone still waiting for this program (whether acceptance or rejection)? The only communication I received was back in 4/15 saying that they will post results in few weeks and that app review has been slow due to the pandemic. Since then, I've emailed the school multiple times and have received radio silence. (Also, can the school please stop it with the pandemic excuse? They already issued out initial waves of acceptances, so we know they had some progress with the app pile. Also, the state of MI has been open since June and as of today, they have 182 daily positive cases, which is MUCH better than some other parts of the world.) Many times, the response from schools are generic templates, so I don't understand why it's taking them so long to just copy and paste auto replies.

Accepted to Data Science track. From the best university in my country. Dean's List * 3. 2-years work experience as a data analyst at one of the Big 4.

Got the rejection after reviewed by 4 months, no comments. Totally waste of my time.

TTPB: SPITTIN FACTS! avoid like the plague

Avoid this program at any cost. They use the scholarship opportunity to lure you to apply before the "Priority Deadline" in Jan. Then, they will not notify you until July, or forever as if your application fee was donated to The School. They use the COVID-19 to cover their incompetence and unprofessionalism to simply show basic respect to applicants. The School of Information seems to be far less organized comparing to the main U of Michigan. After April 15th, they admit many disqualified (GPA below 3.2, etc.) who attended U of Mich for undergraduate. I got into a far more distinguished Ph.D. program in Information Science, and I just wish you to know that you are awesome plz Believe in yourself and keep TRYING. Don't let this "PICK-UP" Artistry disturb your mind! It's your life! Don't waste your time questioning yourself!
