Speech Language Pathology Graduate School Admission Results

For the person who wanted stats. (I was accepted.) I thought I had pretty good numbers, but I don't have any experience in the field, so I was nervous!

Thank you for the support, fellow Loyola-reject :) To add to the Loyola vs Towson post, Loyola said that their curriculum is favorable to obtaining clinical practicums, which may be true.However, I spoke w/ a few slps who offer clinic.pracs. and they said that it depends more on the student, their qualifications, how they do in their classes, and the "fit". Towson&Loyola both had great atmospheres, laid back students, friendly faculty. I liked Loyola's facilities better BUT Towson will be building a facility that houses new slp, autism, & kinesiology clinics. T has more GA opps and is cheaper. Almost 100% faculty at T still practices. Hope this helps!

Received an e-mail this morning! ecstatic, my first choice

The Brooklyn interview was pretty relaxed. The interview takes place in a group of three applicants and two professors. The professors each choose a random question for each applicant (ie- what's an obstacle you had to overcome and how did you overcome it). The professors will ask you follow up questions about your response and you have a chance to ask them any questions. After that, there is a writing sample. Every applicant gets a random quote and has 15-20 minutes to write 3-5 paragraphs, nothing too intense! After you just get a tour of campus- its really a pretty chill interview

WTF Columbia, you reject a 3.9 for a 3.3?

abnormally high number of people applied this year because last year they underwent a program restructuring, what are my chances?!

Pretty late to be notified about an interview if you ask me... Hopefully they get decisions out in a timely manner. Interview 4/5/11.

Thank you for your interest in the WKU Distance Learning Communication Disorders graduate program. We had over 400 applicants this year. We are writing to inform you that you are on our alternate list for acceptance. The first round of offers have been sent out and should anyone decline we will move to the next alternate. We will continue this process right up until classes start in the fall as we do unfortunately have people occasionally drop out at the last moment. For this reason it is imperative that you continue with any plans you have to complete all prerequisite coursework prior to the fall semester start so that you may continue to be eligible for acceptance.

For those choosing between the two, I hear great things about URI and the small class size- one of the smallest in the area, in comparison to MGH's large class size (one of the negative things I have been hearing). I know two people in the URI program who love it! Hope this helps.

i go here for undergrad so i emailed the director of the graduate program to ask her what the status of my application was and she told me my number on the waitlist. they only have 27 seats so they just accepted 27 students and they'll go down the waitlist from there. it looks highly unlikely that i'll be going here for undergrad. i'm sure if you email her she will let you know where you stand.

To the person deciding between Loyola and Towson, I highly recommend Loyola. I went to Towson for my undergraduate degree and although it was a great program I would never go there for graduate school. I also heard that Loyola students get priority for clinical placements over Towson students. Just keep that in mind. Good luck!
