Received email at around 2am London time. Admissions office must have been really eager to reject me. Whoopsie...

I am the one who got rejected over the weekend. I chose Yale because it is a better Ivy overall (not by subject). I heard it is really easy to get into Columbia. It is a cash cow for them. The majority of the student body is international students from China. I am not looking to learn something from grad school since I already have 4 years of software engineering experience. I just want to add some prestige to my resume, which Yale provides better than Columbia IMO. If I were admitted by Oxford it would be a tough decision between Yale and Oxford, but Oxford made the decision for me lol.

TTPB: I guess this is a stupid question. I assume that if I don't receive any interview invitation at this point, it means I will be rejected (or ghosted). But knowing that tons of people are declining Oxford, should I hope a little bit more?

I see why so many of you go to USA. Much better CS research and salary in USA than UK. From 2016 to 2021 CS top papers, Edinburgh ranking 33th, Oxford ranking 46th, Imperial College London and UCL ranking 54th, Cambridge ranking 75th. Good luck guys, I will go University of Washington. Like most of you, POI provides no fundings, and tells me hes gonna to find any available for me but I also need to search other sources. Is it a common way to ask students to prepare self funding? I will go US anyway.
