My only Phd acceptance and that too from the only university that I was waiting on. Relieved and elated! (WES converted gpa)

Can someone offer a reasonable explanation for my case please kindly. During the application (January), coordinator responds to email fairly quickly. Now (May), no reply whatsoever. I am certain about other people getting admits and rejects though. Are they waiting for RA/TA positions to open up? Are they waiting for a grant to be approved? Are professors still looking at my app? Thank you so much guys!

To the UIUC Bioengineering post below: I applied on the day of deadline and got my offer late April. Since I was asked to notify my decision by 11th May, maybe you can expect to hear from the admissions around that time. Good luck! :)

I will be graduating with a thesis master's in spring. One first-author publication during two years of research experience.

Contacted professor in the department about research. Also have 2 years of research from top university.

My second rejection. There's no perfect match professor anyway.

Admitted to MS program to petition for Ph.D. upon completion (necessary when entering with only bachelors). 3 years research experience. 1 full publication, 1 abstract, many oral and poster presentations. Recommendation from an alum.
