University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Mathematics Graduate School Admission Results

The difference makers for me were my Letters of Recommendation. I had worked with all three of my letter writers (two tenured professors and one professor of practice). My other boon was contacting the professor I wanted to work with ahead of time. We had a really good conversation on Zoom about her work and how I was a good fit for her group. Having a high GPA, forward-focused SoP, and research-heavy resume, etc. were all helpful, but the above two were easily the difference makers here.

CGPA: 8.28/10.00, GRE: 325 (168 Q + 157 V + 4.0 AW), TOEFL: 108

Admitted with a fellowship nomination, otherwise there's TA funding for 5.5 years. I thought the email was a joke/spam!

3.5 years research experience, 1 industry internship, 1 publication in preparation, 1 presentation; didn't take the GRE. Best of luck to everyone!

Got an interview request on 01/06/21, advisor received email from department head on 01/06/21, got acceptance email on 01/07/21! Still have my interview left but probably will focus more on future co-working projects

Email from the director of graduate studies about my admission... so excited!!!

Applied to the Structural Engineering program. Received an email that I have not been recommended for the program.

Has anyone received any communication from admissions regarding any tentative timelines for admissions decisions with corona impacts? I understand this is a difficult time for university staff but this is getting a little ridiculous

So they rejected male applicants with top tier publications but accepted absolutely mediocre female applicants with no publications? How does that work? I have more than 4 examples to prove this. Fk this sh*t, fk affirmative action.

TTPB: What are your stats? I still haven't heard back yet :/

TTPB: I haven't heard anything since I submitted my application. My status on my portal still says awaiting decision.

Has anyone received Ph.D. decisions lately? Or am I the only one who's email and portal is not favored by UIUC :(

Asked for the status of my application and this came in at 10PM CST! No previous contacts, interviews, just radio silence and it was in!
