Was instructed by an e-mail from the graduate school to check my online status. Found the rejection notice under Admission Decision.

In continuing correspondence with my POI (whom I've met/interviewed/etc), he said that the admissions committee was still discussing applications, fit and funding, but that he had expressed interest in my candidacy. An hour later, one of the people cc:ed on his email to me sent me a formal acceptance email and .pdf on Berkeley letterhead. **Don't worry- acceptances haven't been sent out yet (will start next week). Admissions committee still isn't done, funding hasn't been decided.** FYI - this was the only school to which I applied, since my new advisor is the best in his field and a perfect fit in terms of research interests. So, so happy. Good luck, everyone! Berkeley's visiting weekend is March 6-8th; hope to meet you all there!
