HCI track.

Current Master's student

not in ai/ml. a random phone call from poi. I applied to 6 schools in total. it's the 7th chat from the 5th school I've received this cycle... I'm really happy and excited but also emotionally exhausted...

Scheduled for two 25 minute interviews, one stretched to about 35 minutes.

~3.5 years research experience, 3 strong LoRs, exoplanets. I suspect it's an advisor availability thing, but I suppose I'll never know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Disappointing, but long term probably wasn't the best fit for my research interests.

Email invited me to the graduate student open house and said I was among the top PhD applicants.

Generic rejection. 3.6/4, 3 yrs research, good letters.

"Unable to guarantee financial assistance"

3.98 GPA, 3 years of research experience, 3 strong LOR's (all research advisors at home institution), undergrad at a state school with little reputation in physics/astronomy

4.0 GPA, 3 years of research experience, strong LoRs, first-author paper in progress. This one hurt!
