Stanford University Graduate School Admission Results

Rejection sent at 5:11 PM PST. Received an email saying to check my decision letter on the activity status page. Applied for the PhD program directly from my bachelors degree (this is the first year they've allowed that). Never had an interview, so after I didn't get one, I knew my chances were nil. Apparently they only interview ~40 people, then admit about half or so of those (~20 people). If you're looking at this in a future application cycle, you're pre-selected by a faculty committee then interviewed, you don't need to contact anyone beforehand to get an advantage or anything. I know how much of a time-commitment contacting professors can be, but you don't have to worry about that here. They reach out to you!

Has Stanford sent out all PhD admissions? I got three interviews several weeks ago but still have not heard back since then. Are they still accepting PhDs? Also when is their open house day? Any ideas?

Similar to the person below, I applied PhD but was admitted for MS, citing " Decisions for admission to Ph.D. studies are made during the MS year" and "funding decisions will be made in late March. I had interviewed with a POI during the first week of Feb for a PhD position.

I applied for a PhD; was accepted for a MS as "Decisions for admissions to Ph.D. studies are made during the MS year". Not sure if this is an indicator of lack of funding, lack of openings, advisor disinterest, or Stanford's protocols. No funding decisions until late March; will make my decision based on (1) communications with potential advisors and (2) funding.

I thought I might get in. feeling dejected

MS in CME from Stanford ICME. Received an email asking to check the portal.

Anyone else waitlisted? Can I expect an offer at the end or is it highly unlikely?

Big L. I applied to only several master programs and Stanford is the one I like most. I guess I have to do PhD now lol.

5 papers (1 top journal and 1 top conf). Top 40 US university. 3.97 GPA. I thought I had a decent chance. Not sure what to do now...
