Not happy. Penn only allows you to apply to one program per school within the University even if your intended research has an interdisciplinary focus. I was deciding between Art History and Anthro. and had eventually decided to apply to Anthro., but the Grad Chair of Art History encouraged me to apply to her department instead because I had taken courses with professors in the department and one was writing my recommendation. Last week I got an unofficial rejection saying that they didn't think I was a good match considering my research interests. Now we see how well that turned out listening to the Grad Chair. Moral of the story: Go with your gut. |
