BS in Chemical Engineering. TOEFL 116.

Received a very harsh rejection message when I opened the portal link

Checked the application status portal which told me the decision had been made. Did not receive any mail.

I received admission into PhD earlier but NC State University Provost’s Doctoral Fellowship is awarded on 1st Mar. It includes tuition and annual stipend of $30K. I am Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur undergraduate student and contacted Deptt. HOD earlier as potential supervisor (He responded very positively).

My GPA isn't competitive, a year of research and one paper under preparation. 3 good recommendations. Felt grateful for this offer :D

Studied MS in Chemical Engineering. Work experience: 2.5 years. 3 publications but not related to mechanical engineering at all. Good recommendations - graduate and undergraduate school professors.

I think, my US MS degree with higher GPA and multiple publications in ASME journals helped me to offset my undergrad profile.

I support their decision and therefore cannot offer you admission. Was notified that my application was recommended on 02/26, saying that I needed to send them the official transcript to further the application process. Submitted my official transcript on 03/12, got the official admission letter via website the same day. No words on funding.

My SOP and LORs were perfect, maybe a low quant score is a reason for rejection.
