So it started with the 'Tell me about yourself'. I answered it, and then one of the interviewers asked why you have chosen this domain as you come from an engineering background. I answered how I enjoyed my bachelor's thesis research and then I transitioned to how I wasn't satisfied with the research I did during my master's which led me to take up a TA position where I learned a lot in terms of bench wet lab techniques. Also, with regards to my research ambition. Therefore, I am planning to transition to .... in my PhD. Then, the interviewer told me that the goal I envisioned is extremely farfetched. To which I replied that, yes, most of these diseases stand incurable, so I want to pursue a PhD. in this domain to dedicate my life to solving such a problem. (Not going to mention the other technicalities). Hearing this, he thought that I didn't know what I was saying. So again, he mentioned he was the same thing, and now the 2nd interviewer also replied that I do agree with the 1st interviewer that your goals are very broad. Just wanted to share with you because I genuinely don't have anyone to share this with. I am already sobbing. |
