Got my closure today. I thought my high GPA, rich research experience and several pubs could at least grant me a chance for an interview, but... shrug. I only applied to 2 schools and all of them rejected me. Hope anybody out there isn't as tragic as I am.

Same rejection email as the poster posted below. I thought I had a pretty decent shot at it as I had 2 published papers and 2 In Review papers, all directly related to the research area which I proposed in working. Doing undergraduate from an average university in the US didn't help, perhaps.

No GRE was expected. 8 years experience in IT UG - IT PG -MBA Done one year Analytics Course Not sure how I can make my profile competitive enough ------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for applying to the University of Michigan School of Information doctoral program. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you admission. We had a high volume of applications to the doctoral program this year, many with extraordinary credentials. Our decisions are based on a very thorough review. We take into account a broad spectrum of factors: transcripts, general educational background, prior experience, statements of interest, and letters of recommendation. We seek exceptional aptitude for doctoral study, commitment to research, and alignment with the current research agendas of faculty and the School. Because our doctoral program represents an intensive commitment of faculty time and financial resources, we are able to admit only a small number of candidates. While we are aware of the disappointment that might accompany this letter, we wish you well in your future endeavors. Due to the high number of applications received, we will not be able to provide feedback on your application. Sincerely, The Doctoral Program Admissions Team University of Michigan School of Information
