Rejected. Did anyone receive the waitlist email?

In addition to the standard rejection email, the chair of English graduate studies reached out directly to let me know that it wasn't that I was a poor applicant, but that they didn't have enough coverage in my specialty at this point in time (early modern studies).

This is my top choice school! Disappointing to be waitlisted but thrilled not to be totally out of the running. Congrats to all who were accepted!! Still keeping my fingers crossed :)

Received an ambiguous email, which, after seeking clarification, was confirmed to be a waitlist notification (though they said the chance is quite low).

Rejected, but with the possibility of later admission on the 15th of April
