Michigan State University Graduate School Admission Results

To previous poster questions: I completed my undergrad at CMU in communication disorders, graduated 2010. Second time around applicant after being wait listed the first year. In the past year I volunteered at a wonderful clinic, had some wonderful letters of recommendation, and really spent some extra time on my letters of intent, as well as getting to know the staff more - to know what they want to hear. Persistence! If this is what you really want to do, there will be a way! Also, I submitted all of my applications early in November - it was my intent to be the first application they received! And typically, a student can complete 9 graduate credits that will transfer into most programs as a non-degree seeking graduate student. I will be entering the program with these credits, with hopes that it would show I wasn't giving up. It worked - and my first two semesters of the program will be a little lighter :) Stay positive!

Where did you two do your undergrad? CMU or somewhere else??

Excited!

I found out I was rejected first after finding out I had to create a separate account for the university's convoluted website system (a short, impersonal note). Today, I got an automatically generated email which didn't even put my correct name. RUDE.

To the central Michigan poster congrats that's wonderful news you must be must be beyond excited! I think I may have a year of wait list / rejects so could u share what u did diff the next time around? Thanks!

I GOT IN!!!!!! I haven't cried like this in a long time. After one year of wait lists and rejects, the second time it works. Don't give up!

To the person who posted about Western - I know they emailed the first round of acceptances earlier this month. I was wait listed there last year and the only reason I knew was because I called and finally got a hold of somebody. They are not good about contacting the people who are waitlisted/denied and letting them know. I would try emailing the head of the department.

Hi, to the person inquiring about the PhD for University of Michican, Ann Harbor. I was accepted with full funding, benefits, etc. Don't be discouraged, maybe they are not done going through all the applications. I'm waiting to hear back from UC Berkeley. Good Luck!

Spoke with faculty yesterday in class, they had a meeting Friday and I was told they are "close" to making first round acceptances. Fingers crossed for this week. I know we're all tired of playing the waiting game.T
