Undergrad from a top uni in Europe, masters with thesis (in an irrelevant field), 4 years of high school/undergrad research + 0.5 years of full-time industry research, 1 irrelevant pub and 2 relevant ones in preparation. Super excited!

Masters with thesis, 4.0 GPA, 5 years of academic research, 1.5 years of industry experience in a NASA contract, UC Berkeley undergrad, no publications (so close to one ugh) but lots of conferences/posters/talks and competitions. Started my own robotics club in undergrad that has grown campus wide with established lab and equipment. I really thought I was a strong candidate... Maybe I was too specific with my research goals in my SOP? :(
