UG and MS from Pakistan. 3.12 and 3.9 of 4 GPA respectively. 4 first author publications, 6 patents, 2 grants, 1 technology licensing deal, 4 years of research experience. I still think MIT was a reach and my SOP was not good enough. Wish they shared feedback though.

Ignore waitlist. Did anyone get an email notification for interview for the MIT SES program>

QIS - 7 months of computational research experience in a different field (nuclear engineering) - 16 months of industry internship in a different field (analog IC design - undergrad in Engineering Physics - reached out to three potential supervisors in December (kinda late I guess lol) but no response from any of them

Expected. Pretty hard to win with MIT.

3 years of research. 1x paper, 1x conference presentation, 1x conference poster, and received 3x relatively prestigious research awards, 1x best of conference poster award. MIT was a reach regardless. One of the recommenders went to and worked at MIT for a period of time.

CMT, 1 Paper, 1 REU. Very expected. Rejection letter said there were only 40 slots for 1700 applicants, which made the rejection sting much less. Kudos to whoever thought to put that in!

4.0 GPA at a top-5 engineering school, involved in several student orgs, multiple research labs, and several internships at prestigious organizations. Not sure what else they wanted.

Accepted into GaTech and PSU; 2 yrs of undergraduate research, internship at SpaceX, 1 conference pub (coauthor)), 1 journal pub (coauthor), 1 conference award
