Applied to EPFL for the second time. First time in the systems track. Second time in a database. 1 year experience in quant finance. UG in CS at an Ivy. Two academic research experiences. Idk. It is what it is.

1 First author publication from good journal, 2 Not first author.

Had 4 publications in top conferences (Systems). Undergrad and Master's from university ranked 200-300. No interviews as well. It is what it is.

In order to be admitted as a PhD candidate at EPFL, you must now be hired by a laboratory and to have a thesis director. We would like to draw your attention to the fact that only 1/3 of the admissible candidates are hired.

2 top-tier first author publications, 2 math olympics medals
