Top UK university, good grades, one year internship and good recommendation letters....very strange that everyone's getting rejected from EPFL!

I had internship at famous institute and many extracuricular activity and good recomendations but rejected very strange cus most stutent for master's degree seemes to be rejected.

Admitted to the Doctoral program in Mechanics. Next step is to find a research assistanship under a professor.

Non-EU nationality, UK uni first class. I applied to EPFL in 2016 spring, got accepted by the school by May, 2016 (no guarantee, still need interview with Prof). Skype interview in Oct, 2016. Onsite interview in Dec, 2016.

GPA 3.85/4, 1 journal paper impact 3.2, interview with prof before applying,

Is there any "eligible applicant" contacted by the faculty members for an interview? I have no news since I was informed as "eligible" on 14 Feb.

Hi guys! Has anyone been contacted by a faculty member since the admission notification from the department? I and my friends received an email almost a month ago, stating that we are eligible for the doctoral program and will hear from the faculty soon. However, nothing since then. :(

to the post below, I have the same situation with you. I tried to contact several professors these days, most of them did not reply my email, the others told me there is no position in their groups, so maybe we should seek opportunities from other universities...

To the poster below, if this is the case, then I have no idea why they declare our eligibility but indeed there is no opening for us. I am in the same situation as you guys too......

Had no papers but 3 in progress.

Got an invitation for interview this morning. Will go to Lausanne in late Jan for the interview. Good luck all!

I got an email last week with the rejection letter attached

Rejected from MTE, but accepted to MTEC at ETH. My guess is that ETH prefers practical experiences and EPFL is more focused on purely academic results, which doesn't make sense for this type of program. EPFL didn't even allow you to submit reference letters from managers, only professors, so that says something about their priorities!

From a top 3 engineering school of France, after preparatory classes. 8 out of 9 IELTS. Top 10% in my school. No papers, but a strong interest in robotics since childhood (such as nation-wide competitions)
