Ignore Waitlist. Is Columbia done sending out acceptances by this point? Should anyone who hasn't heard from them assume waitlist or rejection? Subfield nuc-th or hep-th specifically

Email to check update in application portal. Acceptance email from Columbia GSAS came in a couple of hours later.

Quantum Simulation/Quantum Machine Learning - 7 months of computational research experience in a different field (nuclear engineering) - 16 months of industry internship in a different field (analog IC design) - undergrad in Engineering Physics (Canadian citizen) - reached out to two potential supervisors in December (kinda late I guess), one of them never responded, had a meeting with the other one but he said he could only take me on if I got NSERC (we don't hear back about NSERC until the end of March but somehow UBC already decided to reject me)

2 pubs - 3 years of research exp - relevant LoRs - PI acknowledged email and put in a word for me.

No interview.

Received informal email from graduate chair, field: CMX, looks like I am among the first batch of students admitted

subfield Nucl-th, accepted from waitlist with formal letter expected to come next week. One piece of advice for applicants on WL, let your PI or admission committee know if you may access any external funding source. It is likely that you are well qualified for admission but the funding of the department is limited. They will probably help make you an extra offer of admission regardless the acceptance status of their current offers if your external funding meets their requirements!
