Columbia University Physics Graduate School Admission Results

I just got an acceptance on Friday. Not sure if I can go cuz *MONEY* but I'm happy to have been accepted!

They might be done admitting their students. I got my admission letter in early Feb

(Ignore the waitlist) TTPB: Sorry to hear about the rejection. May I ask who did you inquire for the followup email? I have tried to contact both the physics department (heard about the person in charge of the office will end his job on 03/08) and the GSAS office but no reply at all. I also inquired with the professor who interviewed me (whether all offers will be sent before the open house date) but she said that "Indeed the Open House was scheduled some time ago to be held early next week. However, the admission process is very unusual this year, and its timing doesn't necessarily match the timing of the Open House."

Interviewed about 2 weeks ago (hep-ex). I had sent a followup email a few days ago, got reply today that stated they weren't going to offer admission.

Has anyone heard back from Columbia? No portal change, no email, nothing.

TTPB: Lmao that wasn't me those other times - it's a common phrase, but I haven't mentioned it online before. It just means that someone is trying to coordinate grad school locations with their partner. My boyfriend has gotten into an NYC school, so I'm hoping to as well.

Actually waitlisted. Interviewed last week and it seems like the rumors of Columbia's situation is correct: email mentions that to avoid over yielding they're not sending out any more extra offers than available positions. Also mentions I'm high up on the waitlist so waiting for one of the eight spots to open up I guess. Also pretty sure subfield doesn't matter anymore. Everyone is just on the same waitlist.

I guess I will work as high school teacher then... I should have studied agriculture instead

If Columbia University had to take only 8 students, because of a miscalculation last year, wasn't it their responsibility to inform the students? Why did I waste so much money on Application Fees when I don't even have enough food for 3 times a day.
