Economics PhD Graduate School Admission Results

Canadian. Didn't take GRE. GPA is from graduate school, over 4.3. They reached out to me for the first time via email, saying that they were going to write me an offer.

Full funding.

Ignore the status. Did anyone's status turn to "Under Grad School Review"? Mine was previously under program review. I was wondering if an official rejection is on the way.

Admitted with RAship. What an emotional roller coaster.

Words of advice from someone who reviews hundreds of applications annually- if you did not get into your 'dream' school this year or another program you are highly interested in, take the year to work on your application and beef up your CV. Take more advanced math classes to boost your GRE score above 165. Because honestly, even that is a little low. We highly regard all the maths you have taken and it is definitely discussed in our review. Take advanced economics course where you will do research and possibly meet faculty where you can get an recommendation letter of value. Especially if you are coming from a degree that is not economics. Join a master's degree program if you do not already have one, again, so you can get a foundation and recommendation letter of value. Suck it up, it may take you an extra two years to get a PhD. There is absolutely no harm in that. Research you have already done and potential for research are what everyone looks for. Most programs have their student admissions criteria on their website, if you do not meet it, don't waste your money by applying. There are 100 other applicants that do meet the criteria so you won't even be considered. Do your research and prepare.

Anyone who didn\'t hear from UMD and still has hope, well, don\'t have much hope. See "Admission Information" page on the UMD Economics website. Sigh. "Thank you for your interest in the University of Maryland. We received many very strong applications, and we have completed our review of all files. We contacted students who have been admitted and wait listed by email on or before March 11. We anticipate offering acceptances and funding to some of our wait listed applicants in early to mid April. We do not have a ranked wait list, so we cannot offer any more information about the probability of acceptance for wait listed applicants at this time. Unfortunately, applicants who were not placed on our wait list are unlikely to be admitted."

Ignore the waitlist. Is there anyone who still hasn't heard from UC Irvine? I have seen people post about acceptances and rejections but I have still not heard anything back from them yet. Does this just mean I have been rejected?

GPA is grad, top UK master's in economics. Not a top GRE, but extensive research experience. Nice offer, funding £18,000 per year. Good luck everyone!

Notified via email that I was a top applicant. Full funding + benefits and an office. Still holding out for a few others before I make decisions.

Email to check portal. Full funding ($52k) and $15k TA. Did not submit GRE. First admit! Very excited.

Not an interview, just a question. Did anyone hear back from this school? I haven't heard a single thing, I have multiple offers from a lot better schools with significant funding packages, I don't know why I haven't received anything yet? This school is my "Backup" school. I will reject this offer anyways but I am wondering did they just scam me for my application money lol?
