I am applying for a one-year MPhil. Today my portal changed to "Awaiting approval by the Central Graduate Admissions Office." I'm hoping this is a good thing!

Got a conditional offer, have to send in some forms (diploma, transcripts, etc.). Am a US applicant. Nothing about funding yet.

(Same poster as below, again) Received my conditional offer today!

(Same poster from 18 Nov 2019) In the past few days I made it through the department and degree committee and am now waiting on GAO to approve.

Professor I applied to work with contacted me requesting a Skype interview. He said he was sending my app to Gates now. I hope this is a good sign!

I was invited to interview by one of my potential advisors (I listed 2 in the application). Both of them joined in for a Skype interview since I am not in the UK (BA in the US, MA in Japan, currently in Japan). Lasted almost an hour but time went by quickly. Just waiting for the results now.

Applied October 10th.

Financed by a full scholarship from the UK government, and had obtained approval from my desired research supervisor prior to applying. Submitted application on May 10 -- GAO on May 20 -- conditional offer today.

Applied on 3 January, GAO on 9 May - EU applicant.

Chinese Undergrad. Submitted by the deadline (2019-03-14), conditional offer with 90/100...

7r. A wildly generic and quick rejection, hurt a lot because it was the end of the app season where I felt my materials were strongest, yet they still obviously threw mine out in the first batch.

To the poster below asking about the PhD in Education program status, nothing has changed in the portal. I wrote to the Grad team in the department asking about my application and this is what they said, "Unfortunately, there is a slow progress here while we await details. Please be patient as you will hear shortly." . That's all I have for now. What about you? Have you heard anything back?

Submitted early Dec. Interview 25 Jan. GAO 19 Feb. Offer 1 Mar (email came within an hour of portal changing). No funding news yet

Fourth year (female) mathematics student with an 86% average from a good UK university. Applied 28/1, moved to unsuccessful on portal 17/4. Best of luck to everyone else! :-)

TPB: despite the fame of Cambridge, I can tell you that in Economics, the level of the department is not even close of Chicago or Columbia. And I never seriously meet anyone who cares about the college. Go to Chicago and Columbia if your goal is to learn and/or a PhD in the future. If you want to go to the industry, check the placement of their recent students. My only piece of advice, despite the good reputation of Chicago as a strong Econ department: they are also famous for being extremely hard with their students. Good luck with your decision!
