TTPB: To the MILA post - when did you get the interview invite? What was the interview like and please share your POI initials.

TTPB: have contacted some people who either worked at Stanford as an intern or are doing a PhD there. Basically, they send out twice the amount of interview invites as those they can admit. The interviewers are on the behalf of the committee, but judging from the posts here it seems that most candidates are interviewed by their POI for some reason. My guess is that getting an interview only means a profile is in the top 2k (k = admits), so interview results are only supplementary.

Does getting an interview implies that we are close to being accepted? I heard most of the interviews were informal, was it just a sanity check?

TTPB: I asked my POI about this after the interview. He said he will get back to me with the results by the end of the coming week and not to apply to UdeM unless he tells me to. Feb 1st is a soft deadline.

TTPB: I was interviewed in early January with a POI and not heard back since. Were there any further steps for you after interview? The POI said results should be out in Early Feb.

The instructions for MILA supervision request form states that we are supposed to apply to CS, University of Montreal after we receive the acceptance from one of the profs. However, a lot of professors are conducting interviews in Feb and the deadline for University of Montreal is 1 Feb. How flexible is that deadline? Tried to contact MILA, haven't heard back yet.
