- TTPB: have contacted some people who either worked at Stanford as an intern or are doing a PhD there. Basically, they send out twice the amount of interview invites as those they can admit. The interviewers are on the behalf of the committee, but judging from the posts here it seems that most candidates are interviewed by their POI for some reason. My guess is that getting an interview only means a profile is in the top 2k (k = admits), so interview results are only supplementary.
