M.A in Comparative Politics 3.79 GPA. My first acceptance after 8 rejections in a row. Good luck everyone.

Was accepted here but will be turning it down - good luck to everyone!

Plus $15k off tuition per year. Still waiting on rest of financial aid.

Very polite e-mail from the program coordinator. It was not my top choice and I did not care it actually. Masters GPA: 3.75/4.00, One year experience of teaching at university.

Applied to PhD was accepted to Masters with possible funding. If I want to continue onto the PhD would have to re-apply after the masters. Was told they accept 2-3 students per year into their PhD program.

Emailed DGS, "We have a rolling admissions process. We continually make decisions until we reach our allotment of 10 funded students." Not sure how many have already got in so u guys can still wait on this

I just happened to check the website to find that the status was changed from "Your application is complete and under review" to " A decision is available for viewing on 3/6/2012": The American University’s School of Public Affairs has completed its review of your application for admission to the PhD Political Science program for Fall 2012. I regret to have to tell you that we are unable to offer you admission to this graduate program. Please be assured that we gave your application a very careful review before making this decision. Given the increasingly large and competitive pool of applicants, however, we have had to deny admission to many good candidates. I am sorry to have to share this disappointing news with you, but wish you the best as you pursue your academic studies.

I emailed Thom and he let me know my results in about an hour

I am sorry to tell you that, after evaluating a very strong admission cohort, the Faculty Committee on Admissions is unable to offer you admission to the program in Political Science. We must necessarily base our decisions on materials that reduce unique and complex individuals to the components of their dossier. Nevertheless, I can assure you that your application received the most careful consideration and that the committee’s decision was taken after much deliberation. I know that this is unpleasant news, and convey it to you with regret. I wish you success in your future career, and thank you for having given us the opportunity to consider you for admission to Columbia.
