why would you cancel your other applications? If you are interested, just say yes and let them send an official offer to you. It doesnot make any sense to cancel any application without receiving official admission letter with funding info on it. In any case, you have time till 15 April to inform the schools about your final decision. Good luck! | ||||

Could use some help, got an email last week from UCLA- Comp. Sci. Depart. saying they want me to pursue a Ph.D. instead of a Masters? Can they do this to me? Does this mean that I am at least accepted for an MS, and should I ask about funding if I am going to do a Ph.D? My goal was just an MS, now should I do a Ph.D, can someone give me some advice? Should I cancel my applications to Georgia Tech, Berkeley, UIUC and Mich. Thanks, please respond to my posted | ||||

Only the graduate school can make the final decision abt admission. The department usually recommends those admitted to graduate school. You are already recommended but not yet approved by the graduate school. However the chance for admission is pretty high. | ||||

I am not sure the chances of getting accepted at this point. I called them a few times, they always gave the same answer of "you will hear by date X". But it always turned out that no decision was made by date X. | ||||
