Interviewed by prof and recommended for admissions after interview. Seems like the general approach from UCSB

Has anyone heard from UCSB or if they are done sending out admit letters? haven't heard a thing and it's starting to get a bit ridiculous with how they do this.

Contacted POI. He said I have been accepted and would receive an official letter in a few days. Probably they would release acceptances next week. Best of luck to others.

CME. Had an interview on 01.02 and Prof. told that I should wait for the letter of admission. Solid letters of recommendation, 5 years of work in the lab, article in Q1 (not first author)

TTPB: I'm not the person who just posted, but the PI who called me told me that they were sending out offers to their top applicants first by phone and then email (those who are receiving larger fellowships and the such). They said that they would also start sending out normal offers shortly after, however, a UCLA student recently mentioned that they have been backlogged, so I don't know when you should hear a response (though I would expect that it would be within a week or so).

TTPB: Congrats, and I think that makes a lot of sense! The advice I always get is that PhD is more about the work you do than the name of the school, so I think that sounds like a really solid plan.

TTPB: My top choice PI also reached out to me out of the blue to talk about possible research projects and about starting research early (in the summer) with GSR funding. I'm really liking the school/lab groups so much so that I'm heavily leaning towards UCSB over other better known/higher ranked schools I got in.

Is anyone else who has been accepted getting recruitment-type emails? Since I got in, a few professors have reached out to me out of the blue. It's really nice and cool but I'm also curious what UCSB's strategy is.
