received the letter from the department, waiting for the university letter

Randomly looked at app status and saw it was updated. Slightly disappointed, but the PI's I talked to/were interested in had already filled most of their positions before submitting the application, so it's not surprising.

To the post below; how did you know that you got rejected as I haven't had any contact with anyone yet

To the poster below, Sorry to hear, was this from a POI you were talking with? I'm wondering as I haven't heard anything from SEAS yet :(

Professor emailed me asking for a phone interview. Had the interview a few days later and he told me to let him know in a few weeks if I wanted to work in his lab.

3 Interview Weekends: February 13-15, 2020; February 27-February 29, 2020; March 12-14, 2020

Received a direct email from POI asking for a Skype interview. During interview they mentioned one of my LOR by name and asked about my research history/interests. They told me admissions would reach out to me soon.

Had a prior contact with PI, who encouraged me to apply based on my profile. Have 1 first author publication and 1 in preparation for submission. 3 years of research experience. Disappointed and devastated

not surprised as sent email suggesting I apply for Masters Program, however, I have no intention of paying them to reject me in two years so lol no, maybe try again for a postdoc as I have offers from other institutions. But the rejection does have some grounds as my background is a double major in chemistry and biology and not in engineering (as my undergrad was too small to have one) but was hoping my 4 semesters of independent full-time research (in the states and abroad), and AMGEN summer research fellowship (a program UC B and UCSF participate in) would counterbalance my app. But as it is Berkely they probably wanted someone with more of a traditional engineering background lol.
