email from program director

IN. SHOCK.

Form email telling me to check the portal. Form rejection on the portal, nothing personal but still polite.

Answered the call after screening previous two (thought it was scammers). Accidentally said "holy shit" as my first words. Have interview for teaching still to come. 1a/9p

Phase 2 notification, need to now submit LORs, official transcripts, and application fee

I got the call in the middle of class. Waiting to schedule my TA interview.

FYI to Umass applicants, I just saw on Twitter that someone got a call from Ocean Vuong today and has been accepted.

Accepted via email, funding info to come soon

no email, just checked the portal on a whim and saw the acceptance letter. they will be in touch later about funding.

Applied to the PhD program in creative writing/ poetry and, like many others, only saw that it was mainly MFAs posting their results so I was getting antsy. Received a call from the lovely Barbara Hamby saying that I was accepted and would receive an email with the details in a day or so. From what she explained, this would include a full ride plus a stipend plus teaching a few classes a semester. Applied to other schools but this was the big one for me so I'll be accepting. Best of luck to everyone on their writing journey!

Received a very nice email from the program director who asked me to keep in touch!

Pretty bummed to get a very short form letter after I had had a long (and I thought productive and positive) correspondence with a potential supervisor.
