Just wanted to send a friendly message to everyone! I am an adjunct professor and I got into Phd at Marquette last year but declined. This cycle was HORRIBLE! most schools are only accepting 2 people. The funding is bad and department's are moving away from political research as well. I did not get in anywhere this year. Please do not take it as a reflection of your worth, academia is BRUTAL. you could do all the conferences, hard work, be an amazing theorist or writer and still not get in because of university politics. Best of luck everyone

The bitter girl again. Two rejections in one day. Maybe I should just hang myself...

I'm rejected by almost every school I applied. The only program that doesn't reject me gives me a waitlist. I have been to a conference, I have done independent research, RAships, TAships, and my grad gpa is 4.0, my supervisor said my writing sample is wonderful (she literally said "the best she's seen in years"), yet this is the result I get. Maybe this just isn't the right path for me.
