This is ridiculous! After submitting my application (around 6 months ago), I still have not heard anything from this lazy department. I don’t understand why does it take so long for a department to select its prospective students? I received my admission from Europe’s top-tier Universities considering the fact that I applied 2 months later compared to Canadian Universities.

i have applied for UBC in month of december for MASC in mechanical engineering. Did anyone heard anything from them any type of mail. I don't see any changes in my application status.

Accepted by the International Multidisciplinary Engineering Graduate Program (IME, taught in English). Undergrad at UBC (Canada), GPA was ~80/100. Had Skype interview prior with POI, acceptance letter from POI was prereq for second round of screening by the committee. No funding tho.

I was rejected only because I have not secured a supervisor and unfortunately the number of openings available with the professors for that particular term is never known to us. We just apply and wait for these kind of results for more than 4 months. My suggestion to all the masters aspirants is, if you are truly interested in research and looking to go for P.hd then apply to the research programs like M.A.Sc otherwise straight away go for the M.Eng. The admission decision for M.Eng will not be based on acceptance from any of the supervisors rather will be on your academic record and references (experience in relevant field would be added advantage)

Congratulations on your admission in M.A.Sc Mechanical, can you please let us know what was the communication received from UBC? and what was the application status that you were able to see after "In Progress", How long it took them to evaluate your application and came up with a decision? My application is still "In Progress" ....your answers would help me moving forward.....

Well guys, It's good to have hope and be optimistic :D but logically there is no chance to get acceptance! One of my friend emailed a professor for applying ang got a response 1 hour later for an interview now he is waiting for his visa's result. I mean if the supervisor wanted you, you had got the acceptance letter till now, we are waiting because there is no supervisor who is looking for a student. UBC mechanical department has not rejected us because they wanna be sure the first wave of accepted students definitely will join UBC and not twisting them. So that's what exactly happening in UBC. By the way I am still waiting for UBC result but I don't care anymore. Best luck to all
