TTPB: About the timeline, one faculty member my friend got interviewed said it will come out early next week About the stat, my friend also mentioned that it's in the final stage of interviews. Around 18-20% people have made it to the final round and 5% people will get an offer, which means if you get to the interview stage, you have 28-30% chance of getting in. I transformed the specific numbers I heard into ratios so the numbers should be reliable. That's all I can tell for now :)

So now I heard one interviewer saying that results will come out this week, I also heard that many interviewers saying that it will come in 10 days, 2 weeks ext. At this point, I'm just not going to believe in any gossips and just wait. People you should do that too, and just wait until your mails give you something.

I think getting an interview is necessary for the admit. TTPB who got invite for HCI; when is your interview? I guess results will be announced when all the interviews are done. I would be devasted to get rejected after the interview.

TTPB: I thought/heard Stanford doesn't really do interviews for Computer Science. Only some departments do, maybe, but the vast amount of candidates don't get an interview. Can anyone confirm?

TTPB: I agree with you, that is a possibility. I was even expecting an interview from Stanford but now I'm living on the edge. IMO, interview turnout should about 50-70%. Did the POI tell you about the result data? Past years trend shows that it should in the second week of Feb.

TTPB, I agree with most of the points, just want to add that people might not report their rejection as much as admissions. So maybe many people who got interviewed but got rejected later during the past years didn't really post the rejections, given the anonymity here. Just a thought :)

If they screened people out can they just send out the rejections? This is killing all of us. Just in case they accept someone in the rejection pile I bet no one will complain about that.

TTPB: Thanks for the information. I wonder how will they select 'k' candidates? If they had already ranked candidates then why bothering taking interviews for candidates, not in top 'k'? I checked gradcafe for the rejection after the interview post from 2017-2020, seems like only a couple of people get rejected after the interview. I am just speculating, we have to wait for one more week. My interview was taken by POI mentioned in SoP, but he hasn't read my SoP for sure. Maybe the committee screened the candidates and forwarded them to POI for their further comments.

TTPB: have contacted some people who either worked at Stanford as an intern or are doing a PhD there. Basically, they send out twice the amount of interview invites as those they can admit. The interviewers are on the behalf of the committee, but judging from the posts here it seems that most candidates are interviewed by their POI for some reason. My guess is that getting an interview only means a profile is in the top 2k (k = admits), so interview results are only supplementary.

Does getting an interview implies that we are close to being accepted? I heard most of the interviews were informal, was it just a sanity check?
