Received admission months ago; full funding yesterday.

To the post below, I received notification of acceptance on March 11. Still no word on funding, though. I am international with US undergraduate degree

E-mailed to ask, received this reply: "The admissions committee reviews the applicant pool and notifies their first choices. Depending on how many of those students accept, the committee will go back and review the applications for additional students." If you know for sure you will not attend UNC stats PhD program, please decline their offer as soon as possible. Many thanks

i feel impelled to state the obvious… please decline sooner rather than later if you do not plan on attending. this waiting is driving me crazy!!!

I emailed the department for inquiry on the size of the waitlist and got replied: “We had 232 applications for 12-15 slots. We made 28 offers of acceptance expecting half to decline the offer.” It does not answer my confusion directly but I assume there are not a lot of guys on that waitlist considering the number of the spots. If I am wrong, pls let me know.
